Central govt hikes DA by
6%, to benefit over 1 crore employees and pensioners
The Central Cabinet hiked Dearness Allowance
(DA) by 6% to 113%. Increase in pay is with effect from January 1, 2015. In a
bonanza to over one crore central government employees and pensioners, the Cabinet on Tuesday hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) by 6% to 113%
of their basic pay with effect from January. The decision benefiting 48 lakh government employees and 55 lakh
pensioners would lead to an outgo of Rs 7,889.34 crore in the current fiscal. The
decision to hike the DA was taken at the meeting of the Union Cabinet headed by
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an official statement said. "Central
Government employees as well as pensioners are entitled for DA/Dearness Relief
(DR) at the rate of 113% of the basic pay with effect from January 1,
2015," it added. The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula
based on the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission The release
further said the combined impact on the exchequer on account of both DA and DR
would be of the order of Rs 6,762.24 crore per annum, and Rs 7,889.34 crore in
the 2015-16 (for a period of 14 months from January 2015 to February 2016).
DA was last revised in September last year from
100% of basic pay to 107%. The increase was effective from July 1, 2014.
IS 6% INCREASE IN DA A BONANZA????
ReplyDeleteIf you have to believe today's Times of India, it is!!!!!!
It is your and my mistake if we believed that, since Jan. 2006, DA is automatically calculated on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index, by using monthly averages and applying a set formula smile emoticon smile emoticon
Thank God, no election is around the corner. Otherwise these Newspapers would have come with more "tantalizing" headlines that the DA increase was being given to please Central Government employees before the elections.
Some of these journalists who write such columns in newspapers (not talking about TOI), do not even know that, since 2006, increase in dearness allowance is given only twice a year, once in January and then in July. By the time it is approved by the Cabinet, we are in April or October. And then the smart journalist writes, not only is the DA increased, but a retrospective effect is being given to the DA Increase!!!
Why cant Journalists do their homework????
