APPEAL...

Shri Ravindra S. Phadke, posted to Service Tax Zone, Mumbai, met with an untimely death on 18.02.2016. He was an honest, upright and down to earth officer. He joined the Department in 1993 and worked at various places in the department. He got his first promotion as Superintendent, a few months back and since then was posted to Service Tax–III Commissionerate. Due to tremendous work pressure, lack of supporting staff, and non-congenial working conditions combined with inhumane and irresponsive behavior of some of his immediate superiors, all this took a toll on him and lowered his morale.

            He is survived by his wife and son. The incident has shaken his entire family as well as the officers & colleagues working along with him. His financial position is also not sound enough to support the bereaved family in their day to day needs and the costly Engineering education of his son.  At a time when the family needed his support, the bread-earner of the family succumbed to mental pressure created at the work place.

            The issue of mental stress on officers will be taken up at an appropriate level by the CESA-Mumbai, but the urgent need is to help the bereaved family financially to manage their immediate needs till alternate arrangements, by getting compassionate employment for his wife/son and to get the remaining dues from the Department, (which is not enough as the number of years put in the Department were less).

            Considering all these, CESA-Mumbai appeals to one and all to contribute generously for the cause and help the bereaved family. For this purpose the following officers are assigned as per the list attached.

            The officers assigned the above task are requested to complete it by 25-March-2016 and hand over the funds collected, in the attached Performa, to the undersigned, for further accounting and disbursement.
