        Sub: - Appointment of meritorious Sportspersons in relaxation of the Procedure – reg.

Kind attention is invited towards O. M. No. 14034/1/2013 – Estt (D) dated 24.12.2014 on the above subject matter.

Recently the Revenue Sports Meet of West Zone held at Mumbai and All India Revenue Sports Meet is due to be held at Hyderabad. The performance of Mumbai Central Excise & Service Tax is not encouraging one. In the ground the officials were more than the participants. The obvious reason for the same is no recruitment of personnel under sports quota event wise and team wise.  In the last recruitment only 2 players were recruited for Volleyball.  Rest of the players are veteran, however they are still pulling the show.

In the reorganization of the Central Excise and Service Tax in Mumbai Zone, many new formations/Commissionerates has come and the sanctioned strength is also enhanced. Accordingly, the recruitment of Sportsmen/women under sports quota percentage should be done as per revised strength of the Zone and preference be given to individual events so that more laurels come to this Zone. In case of team events entire team be in the Zone for better co-ordination and participation.  To complete the team full-fledged recruitment is required.

Being a Cadre Controlling Commissioner of Group B, CESA request to ensure to fill the post under sports quota of this Zone immediately. Similarly CESA request to Chief Commissioner Pune Zone, Cadre Controlling of Ministerial staff to initiate the formality of recruitment as per the above said OM dated 24.12.2014 and in accordance with the revised strength of staff.  It is suggested that being the Cadre Controlling Officer of Sepoys in Mumbai I, Mumbai II, Thane I Commissionerates, as per the sanction strength, recruitment under Sports quota in the above cadre be carried out.  Like other organizations it is suggested to have meritorious sports men as per the OM dated 30^th Dec. 2014, renowned national and internationally, be recruited so that the pride of the organization be enhanced.
