In Coimbatore Central excise  Commissionerate the Administration went ahead with the Excise Day Celebrations on 24th Feb.
But for some 2 dozen Insps and Supdts the rest of the crowd were Ministerial, Group D and Contingent Staff with their families. Only 20 odd members from the trade and Industry participated.
The New recruit Insprs were threatened that their Inter Commissionerate Transfer request will be considered only if they attend.
A few top executives from some Assesse units were the chief guests. The Direct Recruit Asst Commissioners were made to accompany each of the Chief guests to the stage after announcement in the Public Address System .This was unbearable sight for us even if we were fighting the administration. How can you expect the Asst Commissioners who wield statutory quasi Judicial powers be reduced to the status of Ball Boys in a Tennis Court? .Since the Commissioner in CBE is an appraiser promotee , he was ragging the DRs, a way of settling scores in the DRs Vs Promotee prejudice battle , that too under the nose of a CC who is from the DR stream. All felt sorry for the young ACs who are nevertheless down to earth simple and soft spoken ,devoid of any haughty behavior unlike several of the previous batches.
